Baking Time - Cornbread!!!

Hello everyone! I have decided to share my favorite cornbread recipe in hopes that it might also become yours! My favorite way to bake my cornbread is in a well seasoned cast iron skillet like my grandmother used to do. I will be sharing with you each of the steps so you can be sure to make some wonderful cornbread to share with your family or friends!

To start off I put a stick or 1/2 cup of butter in the bottom of my cast iron skillet or 8" x 8" pan and let it melt in the oven while it is preheating to 400 degrees.

The second step is to add all of your dry ingredients into a bowl and mix them together.

Now it is time to measure out all of your wet ingredients into the dry ingredients

Now mix!

Now it is time to take your skillet out of the oven the butter should be all the way melted and starting to turn slightly brown in color and bubbly.

Next you pour in your batter and bake it for about 25 minutes, or baked all the way through.

Cut, top with butter or honey and enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 stick or 1/2 cup of unsalted butter

1 1/2 cup of cornmeal

1/2 cup of flour

1/4 cup of vegetable oil

2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

2 eggs

1 1/2 cup of milk, buttermilk, OR water

Instructions:

1.) Put 1 stick or 1/2 cup of butter in a cast iron skillet or 8" x 8" pan and put it in the oven while the oven is preheating to 400 degrees

2.) In a medium bowl add all of the dry ingredients in and mix until fully incorporated

3.) Next add the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix until everything is combined

4.) Remove the skillet or pan out of the oven, the butter should be fully melted and starting to turn a light brown color

5.) Carefully pour in your batter and bake in the oven for approximately 25 minutes (times may vary depending on if you are using a cast iron skillet or pan and the type of oven)

6.) Let cool if you can resist temptation, serve, and enjoy!

I hope you enjoy the recipe and be sure to leave a comment so I can hear how it turned out for you!
